Every day in mom groups, I see posts like: “Looking for photographer that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg, budget up to $100!”
Then weeks later: “Photographer ghosted me,” “Still no photos after 4 months,” “Photos came back blurry and unusable.”
That $100 deal just became $100 lost + $300-600 reshoot + memories you can’t recreate = $400-700+ total cost.
Typical Budget Session Includes:
Not always bad—but higher risk.

The Difference: Reliability, expertise, and peace of mind.
🚩 No written contract
🚩 Can’t show recent full client galleries
🚩 Vague delivery timeline (“you’ll get them when done”)
🚩 No online reviews or Google Business listing
🚩 Pressure to pay cash only
🚩 Won’t answer questions about insurance or backup plans
🚩 Takes days to respond to messages
Before booking at any price point, ask:
You don’t need to hire the most expensive photographer. But you do need someone reliable.
Your family’s memories are worth more than a gamble.
Here’s what you should actually be comparing:
When you see “$100 photographer” vs. “$500 photographer,” you’re not comparing apples to apples. Compare:
✓ Deliverables: 15 photos vs. 75 photos
✓ Time: 15 minutes vs. 60 minutes
✓ Guarantees: “Maybe” vs. written contract with timeline
✓ Backup plan: Hope they show up vs. guaranteed options
✓ Quality: Phone-quality editing vs. professional retouching
✓ Business legitimacy: Cash deal vs. insured registered business
✓ Support: Ghost risk vs. ongoing customer service
Don’t just compare price tags—compare what you’re actually getting.
If your budget is $100, that’s okay—but:
If you see red flags? Save longer. Wait for mini-session specials. Look for payment plans.
Because the $100 you save today might cost you $500 tomorrow—and a moment you can never get back.
P.S. A quick note on “photographers who don’t charge an arm and a leg”:
I don’t accept body parts as payment (my insurance won’t cover it 😄), but in all seriousness—when you say you’re looking for someone “who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg,” you’re essentially saying that professional photography isn’t worth professional rates.
Would you tell your dentist, mechanic, or hairstylist you need someone “who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg”? Probably not, because you understand their expertise has value.
Professional photographers:
That’s not “an arm and a leg.” That’s fair compensation for skilled work that captures moments you can never recreate.
You deserve quality. We deserve respect. It’s really that simple.
I’d love to chat about capturing your family’s memories—reliably, professionally, with zero ghosting involved.
